Schloss Kühlenfels stands in the hamlet of Kühlenfels, part of the town of Pottenstein in Upper Franconia. The present building, erected at the end of the 18th century, replaced a medieval stronghold that was burned down in 1521 during the German Peasants' War. Its two storey main structure, topped by a hipped roof, is joined by a defensive tower whose core dates back to the Middle Ages and which still carries a pointed spire.
