To make a day of it
Schloss Köpenick stands in Treptow-Köpenick (Berlin), in Berlin, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Standing on a small island in the Dahme river in Berlin, Schloss Köpenick occupies the site of an earlier Slavic stronghold that later became a hunting lodge and then a Baroque residence of the Brandenburg electors. The present building, commissioned from 1677 by the future Frederick I of Prussia, is known for its Hall of Arms and for the Reformed chapel completed in 1685. It now houses a branch of the Kunstgewerbemuseum, with a permanent display of decorative arts from the Renaissance to the Rococo. The surrounding landscape park, redesigned in the English style, opens onto clear views of the palace and the water.
