To make a day of it

Schloss Ilmbach stands in Prichsenstadt (Landkreis Kitzingen), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Ilmbach stands in the hamlet bearing its name, set apart from the town of Prichsenstadt in the Steigerwald forest. A Carthusian monastery had occupied the site from 1453 until a hunting lodge of cut sandstone rose from its ruins in 1873, following secularization. The Schönborn family, who built it, still use the house as a residence and hunting seat today. Its most distinctive feature is a round corner stair tower topped with a pointed spire, along with the surrounding wall that incorporates remnants of the old monastery enclosure.
