Schloss Henneckenrode stands in the municipality of Holle, in Lower Saxony, on the site of a manorial estate first documented in the early 13th century. Built at the end of the 16th century by Heinrich von Saldern, it shows a west facade with a central projecting bay in the style of the Weser Renaissance, while its rear side is braced by massive buttresses. The building forms a four-wing complex around an inner courtyard, complemented by a former manor church, two pavilions and a landscaped park with a pond. The garden, laid out around 1580 on a regular geometric plan inspired by Italian models, has kept its original layout even though its former fourfold parterre division has disappeared.
