Schloss Haus stands in Haus im Wald, a hamlet belonging to the town of Grafenau in Lower Bavaria. This small manorial castle, rebuilt in 1551 after a fire, retains the compact shape of a hip roofed building flanked by two lower wings. Its fortified gatehouse, topped with a coat of arms dated 1551, remains the most recognisable part of the complex. After decades of varied uses, the site was restored between 1978 and 1983.
