Clemenswerth Palace stands in Sögel, in the Landkreis Emsland, in Lower Saxony, built as a hunting lodge for the prince-bishops of Münster. Constructed between 1737 and 1747 for Clemens August of Bavaria to designs by Johann Conrad Schlaun, the complex arranges eight smaller pavilions in a star pattern around a central main pavilion, a layout modeled on Marly-le-Roi. Visitors can see the main pavilion with its curved staircase and circular festival hall, as well as the rococo court chapel housed in one of the side pavilions.
