Motte von Wipshausen stands in Edemissen (Landkreis Peine), in Lower Saxony, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
The Motte von Wipshausen is a vanished medieval mound fortification set in a small oak grove in the Erse valley, southeast of the village of Wipshausen, part of the municipality of Edemissen. It is the oldest fortified site in the Landkreis Peine, built in the 10th century, likely to shelter villagers from Slavic Wendish incursions pushing west of the Elbe at that time. What remains today is a distinctive circular mound surrounded by a now dry ring ditch. Hanover's heritage preservation institute once described it as one of the finest examples of its kind in Lower Saxony.
