Monsilienburg stands in Beverstedt (Landkreis Cuxhaven), in Lower Saxony, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Monsilienburg refers to the earthwork remains hidden in a forest halfway between Beverstedt and the hamlet of Wellen. Built on a spit of land encircled by the river Lune, it enclosed a square area of roughly 70 metres per side, making it one of the largest fortifications of its kind in northern Germany at the time. The site is identified with the castrum monsowe recorded in medieval sources, a stronghold of the Archbishopric of Bremen destroyed in 1212. Now overgrown with woodland, it survives as a walking destination where the outlines of the old ramparts and ditches can still be traced.
