Burg Stotel is the ruin of a medieval lowland castle, discovered in 2006 near the village of Stotel, in the municipality of Loxstedt. Buried in a marsh meadow beside a former bend of the river Lune, the remains of an almost circular enclosure wall and a gatehouse were uncovered during archaeological excavations in 2013 and 2014. The site is linked to the counts of Stotel, in particular Gerbert von Stotel, who was active in the mid 13th century. Since 2018 the stabilised and partly reconstructed foundations have been accessible to visitors outdoors.
