Kurfürstliches Jagdschlösschen stands in Mainz (Mainz), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Kurfürstliches Jagdschlösschen no longer stands: this baroque hunting lodge, built in 1687 on the Ingelheimer Aue near Mainz for the Elector Anselm Franz von Ingelheim, was torn down in 1961 to make way for the expansion of a power station. Attributed to Mainz cathedral master builder Veit Schneider, the building had an octagonal plan with a tent roof and four projecting bays. Converted into an excursion inn around 1900, it was gradually surrounded by industrial works serving the harbour and gasworks before being demolished despite objections from Mainz conservator Fritz Arens.
What to know
- The building was completely demolished in 1961 and can no longer be visited.
- The former site now lies within an industrial and harbour area of Mainz, with no remains open to the public.
- There are no opening hours, fees or visitor access, since the monument no longer exists.
- What is known today comes from written descriptions and archival photographs taken before its demolition.
