To make a day of it
Katzburg stands in Bosau (Kreis Ostholstein), in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Katzburg is a former Slavic stronghold of which only earthworks remain, set apart from the village of Hassendorf in the municipality of Bosau. Built in the ninth and tenth centuries on raised ground projecting into a wet lowland, the circular enclosure, about a hundred metres across, was protected by a surrounding rampart, reinforced to the north and northwest by a ditch separating it from the plateau. There is no evidence of permanent structures inside, suggesting it served as a refuge rather than a settlement. A bridge crosses the old ditch to reach the site, along a marked path.
