To make a day of it
Jagdschloss Quitzin stands in Splietsdorf (Landkreis Vorpommern-Rügen), in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Jagdschloss Quitzin stands in Splietsdorf, in the Landkreis Vorpommern-Rügen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, on ground occupied since the 13th century by an earlier moated stronghold. The present Renaissance house dates from 1607 and was built for the counts of Küssow, later enlarged in the 18th century into a baroque hunting lodge. Neglected and altered during the East German period, the building was gradually restored from the early 1990s by descendants of its former owners. It now sits within a landscaped park, with an early 17th century chapel still in use.
What to know
- The Jagdschloss Quitzin is a privately run hotel property rather than a monument open for general public tours.
- The chapel, dating from 1614, can host civil or religious ceremonies by arrangement.
- The landscaped park surrounding the building is open to walkers.
- Two first-floor rooms with historic stucco ceilings remain unrestored and are not open to visitors.
