To make a day of it

Hohenburg stands in Lenggries (Landkreis Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Hohenburg is a ruined hilltop castle overlooking the Hirschbach stream near Lenggries. First recorded around 1100, it was for centuries the leading seat of power in the Isarwinkel region until a fire destroyed it in July 1707. Visitors today find the remains of a tower, sections of walls and ramparts, and a well shaft, set within a wooded site that a local association has worked to clear and interpret.
