Lossow

Burgwall Lossow stands in Lossow (Frankfurt (Oder)), in Brandenburg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burgwall Lossow is a former fortified site located south of Frankfurt (Oder), in Brandenburg, on a natural plateau overlooking the Oder river. Its history includes an occupation dating back to the tenth century BC, followed by a Slavic resettlement in the eighth century AD before the site burned down in the tenth century. The location stands out for archaeological excavations carried out since the late nineteenth century, which uncovered settlement remains, bronze-working tools and pits that have been interpreted differently over the decades of research. Today visitors can see remnants of an earth-and-timber rampart along with a protected natural cliff.
