To make a day of it
Burg Tannenfels stands in Obertal (Landkreis Freudenstadt), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
Burg Tannenfels is a ruined tower castle set on a red sandstone outcrop above the Murg valley, near the hamlet of Obertal. The remains still standing date from the first half of the 13th century, though pottery finds suggest the rock was already fortified in the 11th or early 12th century. Because the cliff drops sheer for ten to twelve metres on every side, no surrounding wall was ever needed. Today the site is mainly a destination for hikers passing through the forest, with no visitor infrastructure.
