Burg Höhingen stands in Achkarren (Landkreis Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Recorded dating: 11th century. No visits are on record for this building.
Höhingen Castle is a ruin standing atop the Schlossberg hill above the village of Achkarren, in the Kaiserstuhl hills. First built as early as the 11th century, it occupied a strategic position facing the fortress of Breisach, only seven kilometres away, and was drawn into repeated conflicts before being finally destroyed in the 17th century. Only scant remains survive today, as its stones were later taken for other fortifications and village houses. The climb to the summit, roughly 150 metres of ascent, rewards visitors with views over the Rhine plain and Breisach.
