Burg Brome stands within a loop of the river Ohre, right at the centre of Brome in Lower Saxony. Once a border stronghold of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg, it was destroyed more than once before being rebuilt in the 16th century into the structure seen today, with its long north wing and 23-metre stair tower. It now houses a regional museum devoted to rural self-sufficiency and traditional crafts.
