To make a day of it
Burg Arnesvelde stands in Ahrensburg (Kreis Stormarn), in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Burg Arnesvelde was a medieval comital stronghold of which only earthworks remain, set within a protected forest and moorland area northeast of Hamburg. The site stood on a peninsula beside a pond that has since silted up, with a main mound, an outer bailey and a motte, surrounded by ditches and ramparts still visible across roughly six hectares. No archaeological excavation has ever taken place, so the exact layout of the former buildings remains uncertain. Access is via a woodland trail crossing a 320-metre wooden floating bridge, said to be the only one of its kind in Germany.
