To make a day of it

Citadelle de Mane stands in Mane (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Standing on a hill above Mane, at the gateway to Forcalquier, this twelfth-century citadel is the only fortification in Haute-Provence to have survived complete. A double spiral wall wraps around the hill and shelters a residence with mullioned windows. Privately owned, the site reflects a long line of lords, from the counts of Toulouse to the Forbin Janson family, and bears the marks of sieges endured during the Wars of Religion.
