To make a day of it
Château fort de Conflans stands in Conflans (Savoie), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.
The hilltop fortress of Conflans stands in ruins on a rocky spur overlooking the confluence of the Arly and Isère rivers, within the old fortified town now part of Albertville's upper quarter. Built in the 11th century, it once guarded the entrance to the Tarentaise valley and the routes toward the Petit-Saint-Bernard pass and the Combe de Savoie. Little remains of the castle itself, its last traces having vanished in the late 19th century when military batteries were installed on the site, but visitors can still walk through the fortified town, its ramparts, its two former gates and the so-called Saracen tower, the keep of the former La Cour stronghold.
