The Château du Tertre stands near the Varenne river, a few hundred metres from the road linking Ambrières-les-Vallées to Le Pas. This 19th century country house was designed by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, who entrusted its construction to his son-in-law Maurice Ouradou. Built of red brick, now rendered, and granite, the building is notable for its vestibule supported by granite columns. It was the birthplace and childhood home of Jacques Foccart before passing through several different uses during the 20th century.
