In the commune of Noyant-Villages, in Maine-et-Loire, the château du Fresne preserves traces of what was once an extensive seigneurial estate, of which only a few protected elements remain today: a 16th-century chapel, a tower known as the tour des prisons, and a dovecote. The main building, rebuilt in the 18th century, replaced the earlier manor house, with an avenue and remnants of a former courtyard still recalling its former scale. The chapel, founded in 1572 and restored in the 19th century, houses a Flemish altarpiece and Renaissance stained glass that form the site's main interest.
