Wrecked during the Wars of the League, it was rebuilt in 1632 by Charles I du Châtellier, then fitted with wood panelling around 1750 and given a new interior decor in the 19th century. Four corner towers with machicolations mark the edges of the terrace, having served in turn as a chapel, a dovecote, an archive room and staff quarters. Inside, two ceilings and the staircase still carry their 17th century painted decoration.
