What the French Ministry of Culture records

Château vicomtal appelé château de Jeanne d'Albret, dont la première mention remonterait à 982. Edifice avec enceinte octogonale, tour à contreforts plats, deux corps de bâtiments, basse-cour, chapelle dédiée à saint Georges. Dans les années 1180-1220, il entre dans la lutte que se livrent partisans et adversaires des Plantagenêt. En 1206, Guy V fit construire la tour et rénover l'aula (grande salle vicomtale ou le corps de bâtiment qui l'abritait). Trois maisons de chevaliers sont contenues dans l'enceinte
