To make a day of it

Château de Victot stands in Victot-en-Auge (Calvados), in the Normandie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: third quarter of the 13th century, third quarter of the 16th century, first quarter of the 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Located in Victot-Pontfol, in the Calvados department, this château combines remains of a medieval stronghold dating back to the third quarter of the 13th century with a Renaissance residence built in 1574 for Philippe Boutin and Geneviève de Croismare. Notable features include moats fed by a reflecting pool, a paved inner courtyard, and the timber-framed 19th-century stables once run by a family of horse breeders who supplied Napoleon's armies. The surrounding grounds, a protected landscape, trace the site's evolution from fortress to manor to renowned stud farm.
