To make a day of it

Château de Venarey-les-Laumes stands in Venarey-les-Laumes (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In Venarey-les-Laumes, in the Côte-d'Or, this former fortified manor stands on a site already recorded in the fourteenth century, when its lord acknowledged owing it to the duke. Built above a terrace overlooking the Oze river, it combines a rectangular main building with an older wing containing three vaulted rooms. Flooded moats and a cart gate flanked by gunports recall its defensive origins, before a rebuilding after 1735 gave it its present appearance.
