What the French Ministry of Culture records

Implanté sur un promontoire, le château de Saint-Germain fut un point stratégique dans le cadre des guerres delphino-savoyardes. Le château devient un enjeu majeur pour les comtes de Savoie hostiles aux dauphins du Viennois. Des rivalités politiques et des conflits armés vont émailler l'histoire du château au cours des XIIIe et XIVe siècles. En 1355, le traité de Paris met fin aux hostilités. Bien que ruiné, le château conserve encore des éléments architecturaux intéressants.
