The château de Renève stands at the edge of a hamlet in the Côte-d'Or, on the site of a former fortified manor first recorded in the thirteenth century. The present building dates from the reconstruction begun in 1750, after a fire had destroyed the earlier structure in 1438. The old water-filled moats have since been filled in, but the main house with its two perpendicular wings still reflects the layout of the eighteenth-century estate. The outbuildings, restored at the end of the twentieth century, complete this Burgundian ensemble.
