To make a day of it

Château de Pusignan stands in Pusignan (Rhône), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The remains of the château de Pusignan, also known as Chastel-Vieil, stand on a hill overlooking the village, southwest of it, not far from Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport. The site dates back to a Roman camp and later a medieval motte, before a fortified castle was built in the 12th century by the lords of Moifond. In 1430 the place was linked to the battle of Anthon, a notable episode in the conflicts between the Dauphiné and the duchy of Burgundy. Visitors come today for traces of this long history rather than for an intact monument.
