The château de Piégros stands in the village of Piégros-la-Clastre, in the Drôme department, on a site documented since the 14th century under the name Podium Grossum. The lordship of Piégros belonged to the counts of Valentinois before passing, through enfeoffment and later sale, to the Poitiers-Saint-Vallier family, then the Sauvan du Cheylard, then the Clerc de la Devèze. This succession of lords lasting until the late 18th century reflects the site's place within the feudal structure of this part of the Diois region.
