To make a day of it

Château de Montguichet stands in Gagny (Seine-Saint-Denis), in the Île-de-France region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Gagny, the château de Montguichet stands on an estate first recorded in 1331, where an early fortress gave way to a residence flanked by two symmetrical pavilions around a central keep. The building passed through several families, including the Hocquarts for nearly forty years, before becoming in the twentieth century the birthplace and later the project of Armand Marquiset, founder of the charity petits frères des Pauvres. The château remains owned by that association today and serves as a holiday residence for isolated elderly people, making it an inhabited site rather than a monument open for visits.
