To make a day of it

Château de Miribel stands in Miribel (Ain), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

On the Côtière hillside, in the hamlet of Mas Rillier, the ruins of the château de Miribel overlook the Rhône valley from a promontory long used as a watch post. This fortified site, documented since the 11th century, was in turn the seat of a lordship, a barony and then a marquisate, passing through the hands of the lords of Beaujeu, the dauphins of Viennois and the dukes of Savoy. Visitors come today for the setting, the view over the valley, and the traces of a feudal past fought over by major regional houses.
