Maison forte documentée depuis le Moyen Age. Aux 17e et 18e siècles, c'est une demeure de plaisance entourée de bois, embellie surtout au 18e siècle. En 1801, le domaine est racheté par le général Augereau qui transforme la décoration des pièces. Laissé sans entretien pendant l'entre-deux-guerres, il est restauré à partir de 1940 par l'industriel Jacques Bellanger qui y recevra de nombreux artistes.
