To make a day of it
Château de la Cour des Prés stands in Rumigny (Ardennes), in the Grand Est region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
At Rumigny, in the Ardennes, the Cour des Prés is a fortified manor built in the 16th century by an ironmaster, at a time when François I was encouraging fortifications along the Meuse against Charles V. The moat is still fed by the Aube stream, and the north tower still bears its loopholes, including one designed for a culverin. The building's long history mixes military legend, such as a possible stay by the Duke of Enghien before the battle of Rocroi, with family history, since the archaeologist Édouard Piette lived there and kept his study on the grounds.
