To make a day of it

Château de Hauteville stands in Charchigné (Mayenne), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de Hauteville stands in ruins about 1,200 metres from the village of Charchigné in Mayenne, on land that once belonged to the lordship of Lassay. Commissioned in the late 18th century by the marquis Charles du Hardas, the building was left unfinished because of the unrest of the French Revolution and was later destroyed by fire in 1922. What remains today are the remnants of a large main building and the alignment of a long tree-lined avenue attributed to André Le Nôtre.
