To make a day of it

Château de Grenier-Montgon stands in Grenier-Montgon (Haute-Loire), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de Montgon overlooks the hamlet of the same name and the Violette valley in the Haute-Loire, standing as a fortified manor house now reduced to ruins. Built in successive phases from the 14th to the 16th century, it retains a round residential tower with small vaulted rooms, along with an outer wall punctuated by semicircular towers and a round tower at the northeast corner. Visitors come for the raw state of the remains rather than a restored monument, the site having changed hands in 2025 with a renovation project in mind.
