The château de Filain stands in Filain, in the Haute-Saône department, a few kilometres south of Vesoul. Built around 1550 by the de Sacquenay family on the foundations of a 15th century fortified house, it still shows dry moats and two round towers from that period, and was later altered in the 17th and 19th centuries in a Renaissance style. The estate is surrounded by a French formal garden with a rose garden and a box hedge, largely laid out after 1980 by the Montornès family.
