To make a day of it

Château de Champgueffier stands in La Chapelle-Iger (Seine-et-Marne), in the Île-de-France region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Located in the commune of La Chapelle-Iger, the château de Champgueffier stands on a site occupied since the 12th century, when an earlier fortified castle belonged to a vassal of the Count of Champagne. The present building, rebuilt in 1862 after a fire, replaced earlier residences that passed through the hands of successive owners, from medieval lords to prominent families of the 18th and 19th centuries. The stone bridge leading to the outbuildings, built in 1772 by Jacques de Flesselles, later provost of the merchants of Paris, remains a trace of this long landholding history.
