The château de Canisy stands in the Joigne valley, within a 300 hectare agricultural estate in the Manche department of Normandy. Built at the end of the 16th century by Hervé de Carbonnel to designs by architect François Gabriel, it retains two round machicolated towers and pavilions from its original quadrangular layout, their façades alternating white limestone and reddish-purple conglomerate stone. Owned by the Kergorlay family since the Revolution, it is set within a 30 hectare English-style park with ponds and an animal park.
