To make a day of it

Château de Bry stands in Bry-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne), in the Île-de-France region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Château de Bry, in Bry-sur-Marne in the Val-de-Marne, owes its present appearance to the architect François II Franque, who redesigned it for Étienne de Silhouette in the mid-eighteenth century. Rebuilt after damage sustained during the war of 1870, it still holds four overdoor panels attributed to Jean-Henri Keller and a set of stucco reliefs from its original decoration. Since 1925 the building has housed a Catholic school run by the Sisters of Saint Thomas of Villanova.

What to know

  • The château now houses a Catholic school and is not open for visits as a heritage site.
  • No visiting hours or admission fees are available, since the building is in school use.
  • The structure was rebuilt after a fire caused by shelling in 1870, which altered the appearance of its facades and wings.
  • What can be appreciated from the outside is mainly the H-shaped layout designed by François II Franque.
