Le clos de Brandans fait partie des fiefs du comte de Chalon en 1233. L'économie viticole est à l'origine de l'édifice. Au 14e siècle, la tour comporte un cellier, une salle basse et quatre tourelles. Le 16e siècle donne au château sa forme actuelle. L'édifice de plan en U intègre le cellier et la salle basse voûtée de la tour médiévale. Une tour d'escalier en vis dessert le corps de bâtiment principal, qui conserve deux tours circulaires sur les angles de l'ancien pignon. Au 19e siècle, l'aile nord des communs est développée.
