In Saussey, in the Manche department, the Argences manor brings together around ten buildings arranged around a closed courtyard, surrounded by moats crossed via a double arched gateway. Built mostly in the early seventeenth century for a tax collector from Coutances, the estate has passed through several families over the centuries. Its rectangular dovecote, lined with 844 nesting holes carved from Coutances diorite, is one of the few surviving examples of this layout in the region. The gardens surrounding the manor house have won several horticultural awards.
