Fort de la Marguerie stands in Tende (Alpes-Maritimes), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Marguerie fort stands guard over the Tende pass at an altitude of 1,849 metres, on the border between the Alpes-Maritimes and Italy. Built by the Italian army in 1883, it belonged to a network of fortifications meant to block access to the Roya valley. Transferred to France in 1947 following the border revision, it never saw combat but housed several garrisons over the years. Visitors come as much for the mountain setting at the edge of the Mercantour park as for the remains themselves.
