The Witteborg was a 13th century fortification built on the banks of the Weser river, between Rekum and Lemwerder, north of Bremen. Nothing of it remains today: its stones were reused as early as the Middle Ages to pave streets in Bremen, and the last traces of its foundations disappeared in the 16th century. A visit to the site therefore offers no standing structure, but places you at the setting of a notable episode in the conflict between the city of Bremen and its archbishop.
