Schloss Unterdießen stands on a glacial ridge above the village in Upper Bavaria. The lords of Dießen built an earlier residence here, destroyed and rebuilt in 1526, before the Freyberger family reconstructed the building in its present form following a fire in 1589. With its gabled roof and four corner towers, the complex was later damaged during the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt from 1664 onward. Bought by a new owner in the early twenty first century, it has since been undergoing careful restoration of its historic fabric.
