To make a day of it
Schloss Kummerow stands in Kummerow (Landkreis Mecklenburgische Seenplatte), in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Kummerow stands by the lakeside on the site of a medieval Wasserburg destroyed by fire in 1725. Rebuilt in the following years after the model of Versailles, this baroque manor house saw very varied uses through the 20th century, serving at times as a school, a town hall and communal housing, before falling into disrepair and being restored in the early 2010s. Visitors can see a notable baroque staircase and interiors deliberately left as found, combining original features with traces of the East German period. The building now houses a photographic collection presented as a public exhibition space.
