Schloss Gusow stands in Brandenburg, in Gusow-Platkow, on a site first recorded in 1353. The present building, with its three wings and corner towers topped by conical roofs, took shape during a neo-Gothic rebuilding carried out between 1870 and 1873 for the von Schönburg-Hinterglauchau family, following models by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Its park still holds an artificial neo-Gothic ruin laid out in the eighteenth century. The writer Theodor Fontane once devoted a chapter of his accounts of travels through Brandenburg to the place.
