Schloss Graffeln stands in the Alme valley, north of Wewelsburg, a district of the town of Büren. Built in the early twentieth century as the manor house of a farming estate, it borrows its architectural language from the nearby Wewelsburg, with three round corner towers topping a main building crowned by a mansard roof. The surrounding park has largely reverted to wilderness. The site carries a turbulent history, having been expropriated under the Nazi regime and later ransacked at the end of the war.
