To make a day of it

Schloss Grafenaschau stands in Schwaigen (Landkreis Garmisch-Partenkirchen), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Grafenaschau, in Schwaigen, in the Landkreis Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, grew out of two former hunting lodges once connected to a local glassworks. Count Otto von Quadt zu Wykradt und Isny, who acquired the property in 1851, had the two buildings joined by a tower and added a private chapel, giving the complex its present form. The estate later passed to the Bavarian state and then to the von Stumm family, before being broken up and sold off from 1968 onward. Its interest lies more in this layered ownership history than in grand architecture.

What to know

  • No reliable details are available on accessibility, parking, or dog policy.
