Schloss Fraunberg, standing just west of the parish church of St. Florian, ranks among the oldest moated castles in Bavaria. The site, with its double moat, goes back to a time before the year 1000, though the present building is thought to date from the 13th century. It has remained in the hands of the von Fraunberg family since its founding, and still shows medieval remains, foundations, enclosing wall and keep, alongside a 17th century rebuilding. Some rooms still have stucco ceilings from that 1683 reconstruction.
